Tetra Pak New Zealand is experiencing significant growth and as a result of this we are currently recruiting for a Senior Process Materials Engineer & Process Materials Engineer to work with our materials handling team in Hamilton.
In these roles you will be responsible for assisting with the mechanical engineering design for our upcoming milk powder projects, along with the automation and function descriptions to accompany this. This role will also involve performing design and drawing of PID's, fabrication, layout, pipework and as-built drawings within projects.
The ideal candidate must have qualifications in Mechanical or Process Engineering and relevant experience in the dry food processing industry, preferably in the dairy, juice and soft drink segments. You will have excellent project management skills and be able to work autonomously.
You will also play a key role in the installation and commissioning of these projects, which will involve some travel.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Your key role in the Materials Handling/Powder Handling team, will involve concept design, laising with clients and budget costing for the Materials Handling projects.
It is essential that the successful applicant:
- Has experience in controlling powder food processes
- Has experience in writing functional specifications
- Is competent in sizing flow elements such as pumps, valves and lines
- Demonstrates an awareness of cost management
- Has experience in implementing projects
- Is competent using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD 3D, and Inventor.

Skills and experience
5-7 years (Full time) as Engineer or similar depending on background education.
Demonstrate technical skills, understanding in installation needs and customer operations at site. Demonstrate understanding of process technology
Good knowledge of necessary standards, guidelines, tools and methods for process design.
