The Project Manager – Transport and Roading works within the Northland Transport Alliance providing programme and project management for the Far North District Council’s transport and roading projects.
The position has the financial responsibility for budgets as well as delivery of all transport capital and renewals programmes. Responsibility for tendering, procurement and contract management is also part of this role. The incumbent will manage the project interface with all stakeholders along with public consultation and communication for projects including iwi. The position will include carrying out designs, reviewing the designs of others, and ensuring health and safety requirements are embedded into all facets of the projects.
A suitable tertiary level qualification in civil engineering is desirable, as well as at least 5 years’ experience working in a construction or construction management environment. You will also have at least five years experience in project management. Exposure to Prince2 and the ‘better business case’ approach is preferred. You will have a proven understanding and working knowledge of the requirements of Health & Safety in construction, along with highly developed communication, and consultation skills. You will also have a working knowledge of the Public Works Act, Resource Management Act and New Zealand local government legislation. Professional membership of IPENZ or appropriate organisation is preferred and a current NZ driver’s license is essential.
