Fletcher Living is New Zealand’s leading specialist home building group. We are part of the Fletcher Residential and Land Development Division operated via Fletcher Building - a diversified global building industry company.

The housing market in Auckland is an exciting place to work and we are growing significantly as a result.

This is a permanent full time role, Monday to Friday and based in our Fletcher Living South Auckland offices, in the commercial sector of the Manukau Supa Centa.  You will lead a team of QS and also be a key part of the Senior Management Team.

The Role
We can best summarise this role by splitting it into three key areas - Leadership, Operations, Strategy

Leadership – this is at the core of the role.  We have a very capable team of QS’s, and we need someone to come in and provide leadership, wisdom, coaching & care to our team. That doesn’t mean you have to come from a QS background!  We are very keen to hear from people that could bring something extra to the table, so if you have an understanding of QS practices, that is great, but if you don’t, then knowledge of residential construction practices would put your in good stead.  There are also the day to day tasks of ensuring consistent processes and systems are being utilised across the business unit, and you will play an active part in the day to day use of Home Build via JDE. If you haven’t used JDE, we can also train & develop you in this area.  Your role will also include the full complement of monthly reporting and preparing job budgets which will encourage you to manage your team to ensure consistency and efficiency.

Operations will be tasks such as reviewing suppliers / contractors, engagement, procurement, work allocation.  You will manage these from a contractual perspective but the important aspect is the relationship management as we really value these long relationships.

Strategy – we want you to have a voice and input.  We want to hear your thoughts on new and existing designs and plans, value engineering opportunities, your commercial acumen will be tested in this role and put to good use in this role!

About You

If leading a team &inspiring others is what gets you out of bed in the morning, then this is the role for you. We will also be looking for a track record of you undertaking the types of tasks we have described under operations & strategy.  But the key elements will be a good understanding of construction processes and methodologies combined with sound commercial experience in budgeting, forecasting, profit analysis and contractual procurement of suppliers and contractors.
