Jamestrong Packaging has a great opportunity for an experienced Site Safety Coordinator in Auckland whilst we build a new manufacturing plant in Auckland
This is a 9 month fixed term contract during the site construction, plant installation and commissioning phases.
We are searching for a team player, who is responsive, confident and capable Safety Coordinator, you will preferably have experience working on construction, plant & equipment installation projects and the management of contractors.
Working full time (40 hours a week) and reporting to the Site Project Manager, responsibilities for this role will include but not be limited to:
- Completing the daily administration and implementation of WHS Plans on the construction site and conduct site inductions in accordance with the plan.
- Carry out initial review of completed SWMS and sign off all statements for all trades onsite or under supervision.
- Conduct regular safety inspection walks to ensure the site meets all requirements of the WHS and Injury Management policies and procedures.
- Implementation and support of the sustainability initiatives on projects.
- Respond to WHS issues such as serious accident investigation and contractor control issues, escalating as required.
- Complete WHS reports and inspections on site.
- Report areas of improvement for site processes and practices in relation to WHS issues.
- Ensure WHS performance standards for your site are met.
- Find and address potential WHS problem areas at your site and assist in finding solutions.
- Project management assistance to the Site build project manager
Essential Qualifications and Requirements:
- Qualification, Occupational Health & Safety with a minimum 2-4 years experience
- Occupational First Aid Certificate (preferred)
- Ability to conduct thorough site and workplace inspections, and report findings
- Ability to design and implement effective training courses
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills
- Understanding of construction processes
- Able to develop rapport and liaise with staff across all levels
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and ability to use or learn of Microsoft Project
