About the role:
We are looking for a suitably experienced Supervisor (with water connection experience) to take responsibility for civil construction projects and staff in a profitable and efficient manner, while ensuring that all work is undertaken in a legislatively compliant manner. This role will be based in our growing Pukekohe Branch.
In particular, we are looking for someone who can:
- Deal with sub-contractors and suppliers
- Manage people effectively
- Organise our existing plant equipment and labour to meet the needs of each project undertaken in this role
- Pricing, tendering and securing new work
- Manage projects on a day to day basis
- Look after our valued customers and perform stakeholder management duties
- Produce reports for the management team
- Be committed to total quality management for each project undertaken
- Maintain health and safety standards
- Programming and scheduling of jobs
- Ensure that crews are working efficiently and have the adequate training to carry out their tasks.
Skills and Experience Required:
- 5 years prior experience in a similar role, with broad exposure to the Civil Contracting Industry (roading, water connections, maintenance, footpaths etc.)
- The ability to manage crews on the ground
- Ability to manage projects and ensure all key deadlines are met
- Strong interpersonal/customer service skills
- Ability to process purchase orders and carry out budgeting responsibilities
- Ability to choose the right tools/plant equipment/human resources for the work at hand
- An appreciation for contract law and ability to interpret construction job specifications
- Understanding of current HSE legislation
