Gencom Technology is an Auckland, New Zealand-based company that provides systems integration, engineering, and consulting services for the Broadcasting and Professional AV markets in New Zealand and internationally. The company's customers include major national and regional broadcasters & online video services as well as independent content producers, audiovisual systems integrators, and institutional users of AV technology such as government agencies, universities, and houses of worship. Half our staff are trained engineers with diverse backgrounds across IT, professional video production & broadcasting workflows, and RF transmission. We are currently looking for a Technical Pre-Sales Engineer in our Albany, Auckland head office. This employee will report to the Managing Director and will provide technical pre-sales support and consultancy as well as contributing to after-sales technical support.

Job responsibilities include:

• By working with colleagues, manufacturers, and through self-guided study, become a product specialist for a range of hardware and software systems
• Work with potential customers to assess requirements and match product solutions
• Provide product demonstrations to prospective customers
• Configure, integrate, and deliver these products into complete systems
• Provide responsive pre-sales and post-sales technical support

The chosen candidate will have the following qualities:

• Demonstrated knowledge of basic IT systems, practices, and procedures, experience with enterprise networking, Windows and/or Linux system administration a plus
• Demonstrated understanding of digital video fundamentals, including capture and distribution formats, and technology systems
• A "maker spirit" including a desire to get hands-on with the latest technology, a commitment to ongoing professional development, and willingness to learn best practices from experienced colleagues
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, professional and engaging manner, positive energy and entrepreneurial spirit
• Ability to work directly with customers to understand their needs; recommend appropriate solutions; demonstrate technology and work with customers on system design and configuration
• Drafting and/or electronics experience a plus
• University degree and/or professional certifications are a plus
• Previous sales experience a plus
• Valid drivers' license and clean driving record

This role will be based in Albany but may require occasional travel in New Zealand and internationally.
