Keeping track of changes worldwide that continually challenge these protections will be the job of a new team - the Biosecurity Intelligence Team— being established at the Ministry for Primary Industries in Wellington, New Zealand.
Biosecurity intelligence is a specialised field focused on integrating science with the analysis of human behaviour - economic, political, and environmental - that impacts the spread of pests and diseases. The Ministry for Primary Industries is increasing its intelligence capability to better target biosecurity risk at the border.
About the Role
We are looking for a Geospatial Intelligence Analyst with a strong GIS and data management background that will be an integral part of the team dedicated to analysing and forecasting threats to New Zealand biosecurity, alongside MPI's existing intelligence function. You will work within an intelligence framework to provide dedicated analysis and decision advice on threats to New Zealand's biosecurity.
Reporting to the Team Manager you will support the delivery of timely intelligence products to identify risk or develop insights into opportunities for primary industries. You'll need to be comfortable in an ambiguous environment.
A necessary part of your role will be to develop positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
You will have access to a suite of GIS tools and help shape requirements for new analytical tools whilst pushing the boundaries of new and emerging technologies with application to intelligence.
Security Clearance
