Our Wellington team would like to invite applications for a Minor Projects (Trainee) Supervisor position working with our civil utilities team.

Reporting to the Wellington Civil Utilities Manager, the Minor Projects Supervisor will ensure crews are equipped with the right tools for the job, forward planning is undertaken to make sure crews are kept productive limiting and mitigating any potential disruptions The Minor projects supervisor will be exposed to a varied workload across a range of Utility networks (Power, Gas, Telco and Water) This role is aimed at introductory level targeting those that have a solid background in the field and are wanting to step up into more senior role with more responsibilities and ownership of projects from build start to build compete.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Liaison with Regulatory Authorities and Road Controlling Authorities
  • Effective management of subcontractors
  • Pricing and scoping future works
  • Forward planning of works and resources
  • Implementation of design changes as per the defined process
  • Processing of monthly invoicing and claims
  • Create submit and track variations approvals
  • Manage and comply with operational processes to deliver business efficiency and manage risk.
  • Signoff of daily work and work areas
  • Track costs and expenses against fixed priced works

About you:

These roles require demonstrated leadership behaviours that empower others, individuals will have:

  • Foreman experience in utilities networks
  • Strong proven track record of delivering small to medium sized utility jobs/project
  • Experience with regulatory authorities and road control authorities
  • The ability to incorporate innovation into work processes and outputs
  • Well-developed organisational skills, including written and oral communication
  • Knowledge of technology and practices, including those of major customers
  • A sound understanding of productivity requirements for network roll-outs
  • Strong interpersonal skills to be applied to all operational levels for internal and external relationships.
