What you will do

As DCSD Technician you will provide 24 hour technical support for the Defence Communications Station's communication and information systems. You will support the engineering team and undertake maintenance and repair of communications and information systems, rectify systems defects and hazard identification in order to maintain capabilities.

What we need

The ideal person for this role will be a fast learner who can pick up new equipment easily. You will have a solid understanding of radio communication, electronic principles and computer and networking operations.

You have the ability to understand technical publications and interpret technical drawings and diagrams and will be a registered EST technician. Your exceptional communication skills will allow you to build and maintain robust professional relationships at all levels of the organisation. You will have two or more years' experience in communications, electronics and the IT industry and on occasion can work outside core hours to an on call roster.

The remuneration band for this position is $52,983 to $65,449 inclusive of a 4% employer superannuation contribution.

  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
