As a Senior Platform Software Engineer at Parrot Analytics, you will maintain reliable infrastructure so that our engineers and product can build on our data science product suite that solve our customers' biggest questions and can be counted on when they are needed most.

You will work collaboratively with a team of engineers to understand what they need to get their jobs done. You care deeply about the availability and security of our systems, and configuration as code is your tool for ensuring that everything is operating as it should.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience including building data pipelines or working with distributed systems dealing with data at scale and at least 2+ years of in a leadership role
• Solid foundation in computer science with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms and software design.
• Experience building against highly scalable architectures: designing, operating and supporting highly secure, high-performance, high-availability, large-scale, distributed services
• ORM frameworks experience
• Excellent problem solving skills. Ability to interpret and analyze data is a must. Consequently, mathematical inclination is a major plus.
• Strong command of a programming language or two - we code primarily in Python/ Java, but we acknowledge that engineers with sound fundamentals can pick up new languages relatively quickly.
• Experience with AWS, Hadoop, Spark and similar technologies
• AWS Certified in Solutions Architect or more
• Experience building and managing hybrid infrastructure (AWS etc)
• Experience with specific technologies: AWS, git/gitolite, graphite, jenkins, Memcached, MongoDB, Nagios, munin, PostgreSQL, puppet, Pyramid etc

• Excellent oral and written communication skills - you need to be a great listener that understands the needs of the business and can convert these into clear and easily understood specifications & are able to present this across the teams

• An innovative mindset to building new platform initiatives
• Strong, analytical problem solver with a common sense and practical solutions orientation
• A passion to be a leader in big data infrastructure and platform in the world of big data / entertainment / TV technology!
