TELECOMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIAN COPPER/FIBRE NGA
As an experienced Telecommunications Technician, you will be responsible for daily planning, organising of materials, liaising with customers and carrying out of installations and wiring for residential and business premises.
What you will bring?
Suitable applicant will need to have the following experience and knowledge:
- Experience in working with wiring in both residential and business premises.
- Jointing copper cables (7pairs plus).
- Install copper network elements, including distribution and demarcation points.
- Minor civil's works , installation of pits, ducts , directly buried cables etc.
- Capable of doing aerial works.
- Knowledge of Fibre Optic cables, splicing and handling.
- An understanding of copper cable jointing.
- Scoping and Planning of Civil Works.
- Concrete cutting and reinstalling.
- Underground trenching for laying micro-ducts, fixed fibre, pipes and conduits.
- Ability to perform and locate underground assets.
- Fibre hauling and blowing.
- Ability to program ONT (Optical Network Terminal), install and configure a Modem Router.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Along with relevant tertiary qualifications the successful applicant must have:
- Be a NZ resident or have a valid NZ work visa.
- Undertaken relevant safety courses (if not, courses can be provided).
- A full driver’s licence.
- Technical qualifications in Electrical /Electronics /IT and Telecommunications - an advantage.
- Have excellent customer service skills.
- Be competent with electrical equipment including power/hand tools.
- Excellent fitness and physical ability to carry out manual labouring tasks such as digging and trenching.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces such as house –basement.
- A clean police record.
