Detail information about job Community Support Worker. Terms and conditions vacancy

Stepping Stone Trust (SST) is a faith based organisation and the largest NGO Mental Health Service in Canterbury. SST operates Residential, Respite and Community Support services for Youth through to Older Persons for 500+ tangata whaiora/consumers each week.

Support young adults to turn their life around: to help navigate employment, addiction and housing challenges. Plan your own day to best support their needs and feel the satisfaction in getting them on their feet again.

You will have a desire to work with young adults, especially 18-28-year-old men, and be energised working within a passionate team to support the implementation of plans, goals and outcomes to ensure their needs are met.

The Community Mental Health Worker is a full time, permanent role and assists young adults to manage their mental illness and progress their recovery in the community setting.

Experience supporting young people is a requirement for this role, and it would also be advantageous if you had proficiency in working in a community setting. A Level 4 Health & Wellbeing certificate and/or related training qualification is preferred or willingness to work towards.

You need a full New Zealand driver's license, computer literacy, an attention to detail and the ability to work in an inter-agency collaborative setting.

If you are interested in a challenging and rewarding role, have a passion for people and want to work in an environment where you will be developed, then we would love to hear from you.

The pay scale for this role is expected to be $41K-$50K per annum for a 1.0 FTE role, in line with gender pay equity.

The role will include the following key components:

  • Work alongside young adults to empower and equip them through recovery to establish personal wellbeing and support their positive life choices
  • Motivating young adults to access the appropriate services that will benefit them
  • Liaising with NGO agencies, Specialist Mental Health Services and the family's/whanau support networks
  • Working in a team and contributing ideas and knowledge.
