Oranga Tamariki operates a therapeutic youth home in Dunedin, Te Pae Tawhiti. This home is a place of safety where tamariki aged between 12-17 years old have the opportunity to address unsafe challenging behaviours and develop life skills. The purpose is to support tamariki in making good life choices, strengthening family/whānau relationships, and safe reintegration back into the community.

An opportunity has arisen for motivated and energetic person to join our staff  on a permanent basis at Puketai and Te Pae Tawhiti group home.

A vacancy exists with our afternoon team, working 40 hours 2pm to 10.30pm.

This is a unique opportunity to positively influence the lives of tamariki in your community.

To be considered you will need to be able to:

  • inspire and engage positively with tamariki
  • think creatively to find solutions
  • maintain a good level of physical fitness
  • deal with difficult behaviour while remaining calm and resilient
  • excellent computer, verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • a relevant tertiary qualification is desirable
  • a current NZ working visa and a good command of written and spoken English
  • a current full 'clean' driver's licence.
