IUVENTUS / HWC host contracts with government agencies (local & central) and facilitates a social enterprise to provide youth, whānau and community development services that empower and inform whānau, young people and the wider community into further education, training, employment, independence and healthy lifestyles.

We have available 1 (one) position (30 hours per week) Fulltime (Fixed – Term / 18 months). This is based in Palmerston North, and covers the wider Manawatū. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront and part of a dynamic team providing youth and community focused services that are vibrant, accessible and results targeted.

1 x EVENT MANAGEMENT & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Summary of Position:

To work as a key member within a multi interdisciplinary team providing comprehensive coordination of the HWC JYT Module, event management and vital communication / promotional provision of the activities and services of the organisation to the children, youth and their whānau residing in the Highbury, Takaro and Westbrook community, and the wider areas of Palmerston North.

Role Function:         

To contribute to the Highbury Whānau Centre / IUVENTUS vision and mission whilst providing professional services within the coordination of the HWC JYT (Highbury Whānau Centre, Junior / Youth Touch Module); the management and the positive promotion of events / activities / programmes and services to clients, service / programme users, whānau of the Highbury Whānau Centre and the wider public in particular children, youth aged 7-18yrs and their whānau.

You'll ensure events are successful and cost-effective, paying attention to budget and time constraints. An event manager is, above all, a project manager who understands marketing and promotion techniques.

Your role will also contribute to the Highbury Whānau Centre / IUVENTUS goal to gradually achieve superior community engagement and intimacy, through the medium of Social Media traffic and increased awareness of our organisation by strategically exploiting all aspects of the social media marketing roadmap.

Skills and experience

All applicants will need to have:

  • Experience in managing a weekly summer sports event
  • A strong practical understanding of the management & facilitation of a sports event, which positively engages and supports the development of its participants and volunteers.
  • Experience in Project and Event management.
  • Knowledge of communications development, review and evaluation
  • Ability to work within an evolving, dynamic work environment is desirable.
  • Good track record of being a highly organised, effective team player
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and computer literacy)
  • A full (manual car) driver's license

You will also need: to be highly organised; have a 'can do' attitude and be solutions focused!
