The opportunity:

The Manager – Mussel Farming is part of the broader Aquaculture team, working closely with the General Manager – Aquaculture and other Aquaculture Managers to ensure a best practice approach is adopted and maintained across the aquaculture business. The Manager – Mussel Farming is a champion for the Sanford Values, and carries out their duties in a caring manner, with passion and the utmost integrity.

Main Requirements:

• Ensuring the sustainable, efficient and profitable operations of the Sanford Mussel Farming Operation;
• Ensuring that Mussel Farming delivers product that meets customers’ expectations, and industry best practices;
• Ensure best practice is cross pollenated between North Island Mussels Limited, Perna, SpatNZ, where appropriate;
• Ensuring Sanford Mussel Farming Operation’s meet all regulatory compliance requirements;
• Developing strong relationships with other industry members, officials and professionals;
• Ensure Sanford Mussel Farming Operation is considered an integral part of their local community and a responsible corporate citizen so as to ensure the Sanford brand.

Skills and attributes:

• Minimum three years proven leadership experience in a senior operational role with a track record of success in management of aquaculture environment;
• Seafood Industry Experience as farm manager or similar position
• Demonstrates a passion and commitment for achieving objectives – overcomes obstacles and looks for ways to enhance and improve results;
• Outstanding people leadership skills;
• A passion for aquaculture, people and quality;
• Self-aware – knows personal strengths and weaknesses;
• Bachelor or Master degree in Business or Aquaculture
