A multi-national FMCG business with an impressive customer base and substantial domestic and international markets. The business is able to demonstrate strong growth and an unerring commitment to Continuous Improvement and ongoing investment in their operations and people.

The business is focusing on supply chain optimisation and are now recruiting an Inventory Controller who will review and improve their existing inventory management systems and performance. Reporting into the Finance Manager you will play a pivotal role and will and be presented with ample opportunity to develop your skills, experience and supply chain career.

The Role 

Working as part a key member of the Warehousing Team, this role will be responsible for inventory control related activities to ensure the business minimises stock loss and maximises stock holdings at its main Distribution Centre.

You will manage and maintain stocked inventory, including stock profiles and stock locations, and control perpetual stock counting and accuracy checks. Producing and analysing daily reports to ensure key critical areas of the stock system are controlled and any discrepancies are addressed and resolved will also form part of this role. 
This role will also focus on the following key areas:
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, shortages, shipments, expenditures etc. 
  • Action stock transfers and adjustments 
  • Keep records on damaged stock
  • Recommend disposal of excess, defective, or obsolete stock
  • Resolve problems and identify warehouse system improvements 
The Person 
With an excellent track record in inventory management, ideally gained within a warehousing/retail environment, this role will call for someone who is enthusiastic and self-motivated, with strong interpersonal and service delivery skills who can build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders. You will have an understanding of stock control systems and processes and experience of annual stock counts. 

Being pro-active and self-motivated, the successful person will also have a strong work ethic and will need to be reliable, have a flexible approach to work and show the willingness to learn and adapt. 

You will also need to be professional and credible, with an ability to use your initiative and prioritise an often conflicting workload. Your excellent numeracy and literacy skills, combined with a keen eye for detail and ability to effectively problem-solve, will be crucial as are good analytical skills.
