About the business and the role

Addiction Pet Foods is a manufacturer of global pet food brands – Addiction and Wishbone. We operate New Zealand's largest dry pet food plant in Te Puke where we manufacture and export the highest quality pet foods in the world.  We are passionate about pets and "We go to the Ends of The Earth for your Pet" by only using the highest quality raw materials in the cleanest place in the world to produce pet food. 

With good business growth, we are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Packing Lead who is responsible in ensuring products are packed timely and accurately and made ready for distribution along with managing staff performance.

We need 6 workers for this position.

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Leads and motivates the packing team

  • Drives improvement in all aspects of the packing process

  • Maintains a safe environment for staff

  • Creates a production schedule for packing

  • Monitors packing and warehouse operations

  • Ensures quality control processes are completed

  • Communicates with packing production line personnel often

  • Looks for ways to improve the packing line

  • Ensures accuracy of weights and quantity of bags packed

  • Ensures all documentation is accurate and clearly written

  • Provide data and report for Packing KPI's

  • Lifts bags weighing up to 20kg during the shift

  • Ensures that finished goods are packed and palletised in a timely professional manner

  • Ensures accidents, near misses by self or others are promptly reported

  • Ensures all hazards are managed and promptly reported

Skills and experience

  • Previous experience with multihead weigher, filling machines and palletisation

  • Strong people management and leadership skills

  • Ability to motivate staff

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Pays close attention to detail

  • High level of numeracy and literacy

  • Strong work ethic and hands-on approach

  • Knowledgeable in food safety

  • Excellent inventory management and record keeping skills

  • Previous experience/exposure in a food manufacturing environment preferred
