We are looking for a progressive, motivated manager with solid experience in production, quality control, maintenance, safety, the ability to manage costs and lead a team within our glass processing company, located in Mercer, New Zealand.
Applicants must have excellent interpersonal skills, be responsive to customer requirements and have a strong history of collaboration with internal and external customers. The successful candidate must also be able to design and improve processes for continuous improvement.
This role requires a team leader with strong work ethic and the ability to train and motivate teams to peak performance. Responsibilities will vary, requiring skill levels from conception to completion of product and installation in some cases.
In addition, help with procurement, working with suppliers, cost control, programming and project management may be required from time to time.
The ideal candidate will have have a proven track record in:
* Planning, directing, and coordinating the manufacturing of products inline with company goals and objectives.
* Establishing and controlling production in order to satisfy customer and quality specifications.
* Preparing estimates of time & material to accomplish & complete project/jobs.
* Preparation of work schedules for periodic maintenance, operation, services & work scheduled orders.
* Managing the production schedule: setting up work schedules, conducting performance evaluations, providing coaching and training, and setting departmental expectations and goals.
* Providing technical expertise and coaching to resolve any processing issues, creating and ensuring the execution of correct action.
* Implementing policy and safety guidelines of the organisation to all team members.
* Developing, analysing, and presenting monthly reports, productivity forecasts, and safety updates inline with KPI requirements; And maximising production efficiency by achieving targeted KPI measures
* Providing daily supervision and interaction with the maintenance, machine operators and computer operators.
* Assisting and providing technical support to all machine user and computer operators.
* Managing a database of all work requirements, inputing data, producing reports & schedules and keeping Management informed of progress and status of production
* Preparing, purchasing and sourcing out materials or equipment that is required.
* Being involved and qualified to set up and commission new/replacement machinery as required, and detailed knowledge of processing machinery
Knowledge and information in relation to float glass supply would be advantageous
Applicants should have:
- A national diploma or similar qualification in glass manufacture
- 10 years proven experience in glass production
- Strong experience and knowledge using appropriate project-work software
- A good knowledge of the commercial & residential building consent processes and council planning in New Zealand.
- Versatility and confidence dealing with professionals, trades, authorities and clients
- Motivation, attention to detail, able work both in a team and independently
- High quality technical skills, coupled with a high level of presentation and quality of plans
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- NZ work visa or NZ residency
