Our client is a one of the largest non-food manufacturers in the Hawkes Bay Area, specialising in timber products such as pallets and farm fences. To meet increasing demand, they are now looking for a Line Supervisor to look after a team of production operators on the timber processing line. 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be working alongside the Production Scheduler to maximise the processing output and ensure that the line is run in an efficient and effective manner. Two major components of this role will be adhering to health and safety standards and maintaining the quality of the products at all times. As such, prior supervision experience in a manufacturing environment will be essential.

To excel in this role, you will take a proactive approach and instill a continual improving culture within your team. Exposure to LEAN, Kaisen and 5S principles will be highly desirable. This is a people centric role, so you will need to be an effective communicator and be able to relate to others. 

In summary, the requirements of this role are:

• Prior supervision experience in a manufacturing (timber manufacturing experience highly desirable)
• Following SOPs and adhering to Health and Safety requirements at all times
• Training and development of staff
• Familiarity with ERP systems and production targets
• Familiarity with quality control and maintenance procedures
• Knowledge in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
• Excellent communication skills
