Habitat for Humanity is a charity that partners with families in need of decent homes. We house dozens of families, operate two ReStore recycling charity shops in Christchurch, have got plans to build more homes and send people and money to help overseas. Habitat people are uniquely keen and dedicated. We love what we do!
We need you to be a bright spark in our office, infecting our supporters with enthusiasm for our work and our new fundraising and participation programmes. This is a new part-time role to support existing and new communications workstreams.
Part-time, 16 hours per week.
Duties
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Public relations, marketing and stakeholder communications;
- Fundraising communications;
- Administration of funding application submissions;
- Contact relationship database administration.
Be a key contributor to the development of the communications plan and take responsibility for delivering on it.
PR and Marketing
Develop a calendar of communications to stakeholders. Deliver those communications. These are diverse audiences, including retail customers, housing clients, shareholders, volunteers and community-wide supporters.
Manage social media advertising campaigns to drive retail traffic to our ReStores:
- Coordinating the production of posts and advertisements;
- Select audience segments;
- Allocate and administer spend against budget.
Fundraising Communications
Deliver communications to donor prospects and donors.
Funding Application Submissions
Develop and maintain a grant schedule and calendar of key submission dates.
Coordinate the submission of funding applications.
Compile documentation and financial reports.
Write narrative sections of applications.
Be proactive in identifying suitable funding prospects.
CRM Database Administration
Keep Salesforce database records of communications and fundraising up to date.
Produce reports on campaigns.
Requirements
Fast-paced energetic and passionate worker with common sense, initiative and large dollops of humour.
Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate highly effectively in verbal and written forms, through phone calls, emails, publications or in person.
Always deliver in a timely manner, have excellent attention to detail and have an approachable and unflappable demeanour. Be organised and able to manage own workload. Demonstrate an ability to prioritise personal workload to meet team goals.
Demonstrate an understanding of audience segmentation and communication channels.
Experience in online/social media marketing and communications.
A good eye for visual presentation of information.
High level of computing aptitude, including:
- Competence in Word, Excel and Powerpoint or equivalent office software (essential);
- Experience with bulk email software, such as MailChimp (preferred);
- Experience with customer relationship management database software, such as Salesforce (preferred).
