THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for “Can Do” motivated, focused and highly skilled Electricians to join our Mackay Electrical Services operation on a casual basis due to an increase in workshop workload. You will be hands on with in-house designed and manufactured packages of electrical and electronic products engineered to international standards, incorporating individual components to provide total electrical solutions for mining, utilities and heavy industries.

In this role you will be offered the chance to work a 4:3 roster in a class leading workshop environment that has a close knit team of professional electricians.  This role offers the opportunity to be home with the family every night, with a three day weekend every week.

Weekend and night shift work is required at times due to high demand and is typically offered to all that wish to work it. This opportunity family friendly with remuneration that makes working in town affordable compared to mine site work. For the right candidates this has the potential to open up to full time positions.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

This role is diverse in many areas of electrical manufacturing and offers exposure to OEM equipment manufacture and process – no two jobs are the same. Typical duties include conducting high voltage cable termination repairs, installing and repairing control cabling, testing and fitting accessories for various sizes and types of electrical cables, transformer service work, electrical equipment assembly and maintenance, panel wiring, maintenance, switchboard manufacturing as well as fault-finding and rectification work on electrical switchgear, substations and control systems.

You may also have the opportunity to do field service work should you have right skills and a willingness to travel and be out in the field. Field service work will involve site electrical testing, commissioning and installation of HV electrical systems as well as provide client orientated service and product training on our engineered and manufactured equipment.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Your strong service-oriented mindset, coupled with excellent time management skills, will be complemented by the following:

• a Certificate III in Electrotechnology (or equivalent) and Electrical Trade Certificate is essential, with higher education an advantage;
• extensive experience in the testing of power plant and utility HV electrical equipment is essential, with experience in testing and commissioning of control systems, protection relays and metering an advantage;
• diagnostic HV testing of electrical equipment utilised in utilities, mining, power transmission and generation;
• experience working to AS3800 an advantage;
• a current driver’s licence; and
• a proven record and demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
