The opportunity

Partnered with our client, we are looking for a motivated go-getter searching to undertake their first steps towards becoming an Engineering Trades person. This full-time opportunity will allow you to complete a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (MEM30305) over 4 years’ duration. You will gain valuable hands-on experience, skills and support from industry professionals whilst undertaking your theory coursework.

You will learn how to fabricate, cut and weld structural steel, weld stainless steel and aluminium, use thermal cutting equipment and fabrication techniques to assemble, repair and build different products made of structural steel, stainless steel, and aluminium. You will become proficient in using a wide range of hand held power tools and workshop machines such as drills, grinders, clamps, benders and lifting equipment. Specific to this role, you will assist in the fabrication of screening, balustrade, and gates as part of creative and innovative projects associated with numerous award winning architects, builders, and projects.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for motivated and hardworking applicants who are serious about getting a highly sought-after trade qualification and are committed to developing their career within the fabrication industry. You will be ready to take on challenging physical work in a sometimes demanding environment and have a ‘safety first’ attitude. In addition to these qualities, you will:

  • Have a good comprehension of English and Mathematics
  • A high attention to detail and be willing to ask questions
  • Ability to follow workshop plans and drawings

Applicants who have prior exposure to working at heights, forklifts, or overhead cranes, as well as prior involvement in this industry – even if it’s as simple as welding at home and working with hand tools – this will be highly regarded. Please feel free to include any pictures of projects in support of your application.
