We now have an exciting residential opportunity available for a Senior Technical Officer – Electrical & Instrumentation to join our Field Services team based in Katherine, NT on a full-time permanent basis.

Reporting to the Regional Manager Central NT, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, reliability and improvement of process control, instrumentation, electrical and electronic plant and high-pressure transmission pipeline systems and supporting infrastructure under management by APA to meet customer requirements.

On a day to day basis, your responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, organise and carry out routine and non-routine maintenance of pipeline system
  • Maintain, fault find and repair, process control, instrumentation and electrical plant and equipment
  • Undertake routine programming of RTU, process control and instrumentation equipment
  • Install new equipment and equipment modifications to enhance operational effectiveness and meet customer requirements ensuring compliance to standards
  • Complete all relevant documentation for all work activities to ensure effective equipment histories and maintenance records

To excel in this position you will have the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

  • Dual trade qualifications – electrical trade qualifications and instrumentation/electronics certificate. - Preferred
  • Must have proven experience as a qualified electrical tradesperson, hold a current electrical authorisation, with instrumentation experience (experience in oil & gas or related industry desirable)
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills in analogue and digital circuitry
  • Competence and hazard awareness within an industrial process industry an advantage
  • Hazardous Areas training and experience
  • Current manual driver’s licence
  • Required to travel extensively
  • On call and regular overtime
  • Work is generally undertaken autonomously and in remote locations
