ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
SGS Environmental Services provides analytical, testing and field based measurement and sampling to a broad range of clients to address environmental regulatory compliance issues and reduce risk. We currently have an opportunity for you to join us as an Organics Chemist at our Alexandria site.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Organics Chemist you will be required to:
- Undertake routine and non-routine organic analyses for soil, water and air samples
- Provide technical support to the Laboratory Manager
- Analysing, interpreting and reporting data in accordance with ISO 17025 requirements.
- Perform investigatory and developmental works for new method analysis and instrumentation.
- Provide support to technicians and assist with training new employees
- Carry out instrument maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
As the successful candidates, you will have:
- Experience with GC/GC-MS, FID and P&T
- Tertiary Qualification, Science (Chemistry) Degree or Diploma with appropriate experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Environmental industry experience (advantageous)
- Excellent chemistry knowledge (particularly organic chemistry)
- Appropriate experience in sample preparation techniques for organic analyses
- Knowledge of quality management systems and NATA requirements
- A genuine commitment to OH&S
