Our client is a NATA accredited laboratory conducting chemical and biological testing, specialising in water. Their laboratory employs a comprehensive quality control program covering all facets of sample preparation, analysis and reporting. The quality control programs are a significant component of their work which is reflected in the quality of results issued to their customers.
Due to the growth of the business, an exciting opportunity has become available for a senior chemist to assist in the laboratory. This is an opportunity for someone to use their technical skills to manage day to day activities within the laboratory.
The applicant will be responsible for:
- Managing and lead the scientific work of the chemistry area of the laboratory.
- Supervising the chemistry department, reporting and authorising results.
- Coordinating and manage sampling projects and programs to meet NATA accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining and continuously improve the quality system in the laboratory to meet changing NATA requirements.
- Liaising with customers regarding analytical and other service enquiries.
- Maintaining and calibrate of all chemistry equipment.
The applicant must have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills to large groups of people involving negotiation and public speaking.
- Skills to mentor, train and develop staff.
- Working knowledge of water and sewage treatment.
- Experience working in a NATA accredited laboratory.
- Good driving record.
