We have been briefed to source a suitably qualified senior legal counsel or general counsel who is willing to consider a 12-month maternity leave contract from approximately October 2018.
Your primary objectives will be to manage a wide range of corporate and commercial legal matters working with other business leaders in this prominent organisation with a worldwide coverage.
Your existing skillset can be wide and varied, but ideally you will have had exposure managing front end corporate matters including the drafting and negotiating of commercial contracts and agreements, advising on regulatory, privacy, compliance, governance, and employment law issues, as well as dealing with an element of property and construction law and some litigation management.
In addition to managing the day to day legal operations you will be responsible for the Company Secretarial function of the business, covering the Asia Pacific region. Accordingly, you must possess the appropriate qualifications and expertise to carry out this function.
Both private law firm and lawyers with an inhouse background will be considered, although ideally you will have practised for a minimum of 10 years in a legal capacity. You must also be admitted to practise in Australia.
Although this role is initially being sourced as a maternity leave cover, there is potential for the right candidate to remain in a legal counsel capacity within the business upon completion of the initial 12-month period. The prospects of a permanent conversion will be determined during the duration of the contract.
