people2people are working closely with this a NSW Government department who are seeking a Legal Officer Grade III on an inital 3 month assignment located in Sydney CBD. 

The Role:
The primary purpose of this role will be to provide your extensive legal advice to a range of multiple stakeholders & to perform legal duties that are alinged with the entity's policies and proceudres to ensure the most effective outcome in courts of law & tribunals


Duties will be, but are not limited to: 

• Draft legal responses
• Represent the Entity in Court and/or brief legal counsel
• Provide efficent legal advice to the AD
• Work closely with the Senior Investigation & Review Officers
• implement legal precedent and knowledge to support the department in meeting its objectives
• Communicating with other Governemnt departments to ensure legislation compliance

To be eligible for this role you must have:

• Qualification in law, and must be admitted (or eligible to be admitted), and must hold a practising certificate (or eligible to hold a practising certificate)

 

• Demonstrated experience in administrative law and advocacy including judicial and quasi-judicial fora and a capacity to distill and present complex legal issues

 

• ​Demonstrated case management experience and administering legislation and investigations, with a sound understanding of investigation principles, process and practices
