Company
A fast growing diversified property group with a focus on residential development and trade finance, this group is laying down the foundations for a strong presence within the local market. 

Due to company growth and strategy, this company is now seeking a Legal Counsel to join their team and set up their internal legal framework with the support of the business. 

Role
As a Legal Counsel, you will report directly to the Group CFO and GM of Commodity Investments and have the opportunity to work across an interesting scope of work. 

This will be a 'blank slate' role where you will be instrumental in building out the legal function within the group. This may include the structuring and hiring of junior staff to broaden the function. 

You will be a key business partner and provide legal expertise towards commercial decision making as well as ensuring that all operations and cross-border transactions are compliant with relevant legislation. 

Your ability to draft, review, negotiate and advise on a variety of legal agreements and issues will be key to the success of this role. Your ability to support the team in negotiating and documenting commercial agreements and outcomes across various jurisdictions will also be crucial. 

Person
To be successful in this role, you will be a commercially minded and solutions driven Lawyer with 5-10 years PQE working across banking/capital markets with experience in commodities/trade finance transactions. 

Any experience in energy commodities will be highly regarded. 

You will be skilled at drafting complex documents and providing accurate advice particularly across various borders. 

Your abilities to develop strong stakeholder relationships and influence cross-functional teams and management throughout the property development process will be critical to this role.

Your ability to communicate with international teams will also be important and your professional Mandarin speaking abilities will be heavily utilised. 

You must also be admitted as a solicitor within New South Wales and have a current practising certificate.
