JOB PURPOSE/PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
To provide commercial and legal support to the Development, Financing, Construction and Operations teams in order to further and facilitate the performance and efficiency of the Company.
Key Tasks/Duties
The main duties of the post-holder are listed below; however other activities and requirements may arise from time to time.
Commercial Duties
- Advise CWP Renewables on their legal rights and obligations;
- Provide legal and commercial support to all project companies when required;
- Provide practical legal advice and support to the Development, Financing, Construction and Operations teams based on a sound understanding of the business’ goals and commercial drivers.
- Negotiate, in conjunction with the relevant team member, contractual arrangements for the project, including land agreements and power purchase agreements.
- Maintain and develop the suite of landowner agreements.
- Instruct and manage external lawyers as required.
- Assist in the negotiation and monitoring of power purchase agreements and finance, construction and operations contracts.
- Review internal and external contracts and documentation to ensure compliance in order to protect the interests of the company.
- Provide assistance with document management and co-ordination;
- Handle minor disputes;
General
- Preparing reports on legal spending across the company;
- Carrying out legal researches;
- Various administrative duties.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Personal skills/Attributes
- Commercial awareness
- Previous in-house experience (two year minimum)
- Sound knowledge of contract and commercial law
- Sound knowledge of NSW property law
- Sound knowledge of power purchase agreements
- Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
- Able to hit the ground running and to take initiative
- Strong interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communications
- Enjoy working in the office or field, communicating directly with stakeholders face to face.
- Able to develop and build effective working relationships, internally and externally
- Self-motivated and driven to deliver team goals to support wider business goals and priorities
- Able to contribute to the culture of working in partnership and delivering capacity through our quality, pioneering and decisive approach
- Able to adapt and work effectively and flexibly within a small team environment
- Interested in and motivated by the renewable energy sector
Education and qualifications

Holder of a Law Degree;
- Excellent level of IT competency
