About the business
Leading animation company, Flying Bark Productions Pty Ltd, is looking for a senior lawyer to join our team. This position reports to the Managing Director and requires extensive knowledge of the film and television industry, excellent negotiating skills and a strong grounding in Intellectual Property and Corporate law.
Flying Bark Productions has been creating iconic children's entertainment since 1968.
We operate a full-service production facility for feature films, television and a diverse range of digital content. We develop and produce our own IP from first concept to delivery as well as partnering with international companies to produce animated content for great brands.

About the role
Flying Bark is part of Studio 100, a European media group. Our legal and business teams work collaboratively to provide the best advice in their respective jurisdictions in order to facilitate productions across boarders as well as distribution and licensing and merchandising agreements.
As our Senior Legal and Business Affairs, you will have primary responsibility for
- Drafting and negotiating agreements including
- coproduction
- financing
- broadcast (free, pay and online)
- distribution (film and television)
- rights
- actors, directors, writers and composers as well as crew
- and other agreements in connection with the development and production of film and television;
- Advising on IP, commercial and other aspects of the law relevant to the entertainment and media industry;
- Advising on corporate issues;
- Liaising with project partners and parts of the Company including those located outside Australia (which may require working outside ordinary hours of work to satisfy international time differences);
- Assessing potential financing scenarios and structures for projects;
- Advising on financing issues;
- Supervising Government Funding applications including for production, development and new media;
- Advising on Producer Offset and Official Coproduction Guidelines and supervising their applications;
- Advising on ACMA requirements and supervising ACMA applications;
- Advising on and preparing submissions to government concerning proposed changes to the law that may affect the Company;
- Attending or presenting at industry forums as required;
- Handling other general business and legal affairs matters as needed; and
- Supervise other staff in the Legal and Business Affairs department.

Skills and experience
- Experience in Entertainment Law
- Established relationships within the entertainment industry business affairs and legal communities
- Strong negotiation and drafting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritise and manage time, with exceptional organizational skills and a proven capacity to effectively deal with competing priorities
- Strong initiative and ability to take on tasks and self manage priorities and deadlines
