The Opportunity

To ensure that we continue to provide exceptional service to our clients and to grow our Workplace Relations and Occupational Safety team to meet demands, we're looking for a lawyer who has a strong passion for Employment and Industrial Relations Law and who:

  • has outstanding knowledge of and experience of workplace relations law;

  • has excellent drafting skills;
  • is a strong communicator;
  • is a team player but also has the ability to work autonomously; and

About You

You are a senior and experienced lawyer with knowledge and experience in Workplace Relations/Employment, Occupational Health and Safety, and Equal Opportunity/Discrimination law. You are excited about working with a team of lawyers and collaborating with colleagues and clients to provide advice and representation in the diverse and challenging government sector. You understand the importance of having the right people, management and processes in place to facilitate the provision of services which are legally appropriate, apt, timely and within budget.  

You will provide legal services to government clients on various advisory and litigious issues, and will assist in supervising and overseeing the work of a team of solicitors working on sensitive and complex legal matters.

You will be experienced in building client relationships, with the ability present effectively at client seminars and briefings, and contribute to the marketing of the VGSO.

You will have a minimum of four years' practicing experience in a legal environment (Principal Solicitors are required to have a minimum of six years' experience).
