About the Position - Legal Counsel

An opportunity currently exists for an experienced lawyer with 2 - 5 years' experience to join our Legal team.  You will work closely with the General Counsel and be exposed to a wide variety of commercial, contracting and regulatory matters, including:

  • Legal research and advice - conducting research and providing timely advice regarding the impact of government policy and legislation
  • Legal compliance - assisting in the maintenance and development of CEA's compliance program
  • Contracts and Agreements - reviewing legal and commercial terms in proposed contracts, tenders and proposals in connection with the acquisition and support of CEA's systems in Defence projects
  • Litigation/Dispute Resolution - running disputes, engaging with external counsel and providing commercial advice

As CEA is active both domestically and internationally, this role offers a rare and unique opportunity to deal with multi-jurisdictional issues that arise when contracting with governments and prime contractors.

The Person

You will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in law
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound research and analytical abilities 
  • A sound working knowledge of government procurement and contract law and experience with the Commonwealth of Australia and/or Defence industry would be highly regarded, although not essential.
