An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate to join the Perth Banking and Finance team. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious lawyer to join a top-tier and energetic team and to work on the most challenging, engaging and complex financial transactions available, both in Australia and globally.

The team is managed by two partners who have a recognised track record in regularly advising on the highest-profile deals in the marketplace and who act for a range of local and international commercial banks, investment banks, private equity and hedge funds and corporate borrowers. The team is staffed by enthusiastic, high-performing and collegiate lawyers. Any successful candidate will need to demonstrate these same qualities.

The role offers exciting potential for career advancement and significant technical and client development opportunities.

The key responsibilities and requirements for this role are as follows:

Responsibilities

  • Work on a range of specialist financing matters including acting for lenders, borrowers and project sponsors on both international and domestic debt-financing transactions.
  • Work as part of a team on project finance, acquisition finance and general corporate finance.
  • Direct client management, with extensive client interaction, across different time zones.
  • Business development activities with a focus on the resources and commodities sectors.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-4 years PQE gained from a top tier or large international Banking & Finance, Projects or Corporate practice.
  • Outstanding analytical, technical and drafting skills.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with complex transactions.
  • Experience in mining and energy project financings in Australia and/or various emerging markets (desirable).
  • Candidates qualified in non-Australian jurisdictions will be considered.
