The Opportunity
We are seeking a fulltime Paralegal with Family Law experience. You will be working directly with an experienced Solicitor and have hands on responsibility of files and clients, whilst providing general support and assistance. This role is within a well established, multidisciplinary law firm in Cairns CBD.
Your Responsibilities as a Family Law Paralegal will include:
- Preparing and drafting judgments, statements, documents, and other correspondence
- Competent perform legal research& maintaining Solicitor calendars and case files
- Scheduling appointments, court appearances, and mediation/deposition hearings
- Serving as a liaison between the client and Solicitor, & conducting client interviews
- Preparing trial notebooks and providing assistance in trial settings
- Preparing and reviewing discovery packages, including disclosure statements, answers to interrogatories, and production requests
About You
To be considered for this exciting, busy and rewarding Paralegal role, you should bring ALL of the following skills & experience:
- Min 3 years of Paralegal experience in Family Law
- Proven diary management & scheduling of meetings
- Well presented, with excellent written & spoken communication
- Organised, proactive, punctual & happy to work independently
- Strong attention to detail essential
- Enjoy working in a small team & take ownership of tasks from start to finish
- Excellent computer skills with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word & Excel, with the ability to pick up in house legal software quickly.
Due to the nature of family law, you must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and must be capable of handling clients who may be anxious, upset, or distressed. It is also expected that you will be confident communicating well with a range of professionals, which could include, health care providers, accountants, and banking representatives, all whilst maintaining absolute confidentiality in all of your dealings. You are a paralegal career professional with a strong worth ethic and positive attitude, seeking a busy, rewarding role.
