The role
Reporting to the Group General Counsel, you will work with all levels of management including the Lead Team. Working as part of a team of four lawyers and alongside key players in the grains industry, you will harness your legal expertise, to manage corporate, commercial, and industry specific contractual matters, trade practices and regulatory compliance. You will also help manage legal claims by or against the CBH Group as well as international trade, shipping, finance and property related matters.
Key responsibilities
- Ensuring that the CBH Group's contractual arrangements are clear, unambiguous and enforceable to consistently meet the legal and business needs of the Group
- Providing pragmatic and commercial legal advice on any range of issues that may impact on CBH Group operations in Australia and overseas jurisdictions
- Providing timely and accurate advice on, and ensuring compliance with, legislative requirements, in particular the Cooperatives Act, Bulk Handling Act, the Competition and Consumer Act and Corporations Act
- Drafting and updating of precedent agreements for use in the business
- Participation in project teams to implement defined project outcomes
- Provide advice and representation on issues relating to regulatory matters impacting or likely to impact on the CBH Group
Skills and experience
- Bachelor of Laws Degree
- Qualified lawyer with 4 - 7 years experience with a reputable law firm or similar in house position
- Admitted to practice in WA (or primary state of residence)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent professional, commercial and personal judgement, decision-making and problem solving skills
Highly desirable
Experience in the areas of international trade, transport, shipping or construction will be viewed favourably
