Our client, a global insurer, are seeking an experienced underwriting individual to join their established Property Underwriting team based in their Sydney CBD office. Work culture is a valued asset for our client. As such, we are looking for the right person who can demonstrate our core values by being proactive, responsible, inquisitive, dedicated and enthusiastic.
Responsibilities:
- Underwriting new business and renewals providing quotes in a timely and professional manner in line with agreed service standards
- Managing a portfolio to ensure profitability is maintained whilst achieving revenue targets that are set and agreed
- Keeping up to date with all administrative requirements such as renewals, debtors, policy issuance, submission registers etc
- Technical reference source and support on policy coverage;
- As appropriate, provide input to Manager on profit analysis, premium planning, market and environment analysis
- Developing and maintaining relationships with brokers
Requirements:
- 3-4 years' experience in risk underwriting in property (residential or commercial risks)
- Demonstrable ability to proactively identify and implement intelligent solutions to unique underwriting situations
- Appropriate levels of subject matter expertise in relation to: pricing techniques, alternative risk transfer and the development of reserves by individual case and by book of business
- Judgement, experience and confidence to make appropriate recommendations for tailoring coverage and manuscripting policies
- Able to work autonomously with the ability to manage numerous tasks within set timeframes and meet deadlines
- A solid understanding of general insurance legislation is a prerequisite. Tier 2 and ANZIIF Insurance Diploma is highly favourable, but not essential
