This newly created role is for an experienced Underwriting Manager with a strong Liability background to develop and implement strategic and operational objectives for their Professional Indemnity and Liability products

Reviewing existing portfolios and identifying growth opportunities in the niche liability product sectors, the Underwriting Manager will lead a customer-oriented team with a focus on exceptional underwriting performance with key responsibilities including:

• Increase market share through client retention and attraction of new business in existing and untapped markets.
• Develop, implement and leverage innovative products that add value to customers and differentiate them from competitors.
• Relentlessly drive sustained profitability through accountability and an enabling Governance structure.
• Nurture this customer-centric company and raving fans that are ambassadors for their business
• Become a recognised employer of choice in the Hunter region with skilled and passionate people, well trained and supported to deliver results.
• Strategically position the business via targeted campaigns that drive business growth in new and existing market
• Coaching and Mentoring a Team of 8

• Extensive knowledge and experience as an Underwriting Manager in General Liability product lines
• Diploma or Tier 1 compliant qualifications in insurance
• Strong working knowledge of risk management in diverse liability portfolios
• Experience leading a high performance team, with a customer-centric and results driven focus
• Good working knowledge of risk profiling and pricing tools, as well as loss models
• Well developed leadership skills, including a high level of self-awareness, an appetite for lifelong learning and a genuine interest in enhancing the wellbeing of others
• Ability to recognise trends and opportunities in the market, and work collaboratively to realise them
• Ability to create a community of fans (customers) without sacrificing underwriting performance
• Ability to coach direct supports and inspire them to work to their strengths
