A rare opportunity exists for a highly motivated and professional Safety Officer to join our Risk team on a fixed term contract for 12 months and an opportunity to be part of the 2018 Caulfield Cup Carnival.
Based at Caulfield racecourse and reporting to the Senior Safety & Compliance Officer, this role will be responsible for promoting a safety culture and the coordination, development and continuous improvement of the Club's Occupational Health Safety and Risk Management systems. You will work in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders to implement and monitor safety and environmental policies and processes to protect this diverse business.
Duties include:
- Ensuring that the Clubs health and safety management system is working effectively, including event safety management, hazard, injury recording, performance reporting, internal and external reviews
- Assist in the review, development, implementation and testing of emergency plans
- Provide advice and liaise with departments on safety issues and projects
- Record, administer and provide management reporting of all incidents/investigations
- Research and environmental scan for emerging issues and changes to legislation in the safety field
- Assist in the review, development and implementation of emergency plans
- Review online induction progress for legislative and compliance changes
- Ongoing hazard identification and risk assessment
The successful candidate will need to have the following:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
- Racing, Gaming venues or event management experience
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work across a shared calendar of race days (weekends)
