The Role

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic chef, who is passionate about cooking and willing to assist the kitchen team in an Education café and residential site.  Your mission in this role is to deliver top quality, tasty and consistent food in a timely manner. Reporting to the Site Manager, you will also be required to provide function catering as required.

This is a permanent position operating in a dynamic service environment. As such operational conditions and client demands will dictate hours of work. In addition to the core business of 6.30am to 2.30pm or 10.30am - 6.30pm Monday – Friday, on  occasions evening or weekend work will be required.  Stand down during school holiday periods apply.

.You will be responsible for:

• Preparing and cooking a wide range of dishes to a consistently high standard
• Menu development and function planning
• Leading a team of up to four catering assistants
• Managing food costs 
• Achieving all safety, hygiene and food quality targets
• Taking ownership of the kitchen, including stock control

Skills and Experience

• A proven ability to deliver quality café and residential food in similar environment
• A proven ability to deliver high end function food for sit down and stand up functions that occur outside of school hours
• Well-developed leadership skills
• Constructive behaviours that are a positive example to others
• Ability to multi task and work as part of a team
• Strong delegation and customer service skills
• The highest standards of food and occupational safety and hygiene
