SeaLink is looking for an experienced General Manager to lead the South East Queensland team, including Cleveland, Redbank Bay, Bay Islands, Moggill and the Brisbane based sales team for Fraser Island!

About You

  • Strong team leadership capabilities, focused on coaching and driving the team to deliver exceptional customer service
  • The ability to drive a strong safety culture and identify and manage business risks
  • Previous experience in developing and managing financial forecasts/budgets and providing recommendations on expense reduction strategies
  • Contribute to, develop and drive the delivery of the key strategic business objectives
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and a keen eye for identifying operational efficiencies
  • Establish a broad network of contacts based on effective internal and external partnerships and relationships to aid the identification of growth opportunities

Skills and experience

Advanced planning and organisation skills, with strong leadership and people management skills will see you lead, motivate and drive results from your team. You'll bring formal qualifications to the role, exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong business acumen, relationship management and influencing skills are fundamental to this role.

  • Extensive Senior Management experience including management of large sized tourism industry businesses essential, with marine tourism experience of value
  • Proven record in tourism Sales & Marketing, including brand management
  • Proven record in negotiating and managing partnership agreements with travel Retailers, Wholesalers, Online Travel Agents and Inbound Tour Operators
  • Proven record in driving digital and social media opportunities
  • Proven record in driving PR/Publicity strategies
  • Substantial experience in the management and development of commercial enterprises
  • Extensive leadership experience especially with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong financial management experience
  • Substantial experience in strategic planning and business plan
    implementation
  • Substantial experience in change management
  • Knowledge of issues impacting upon the tourism and transport industries
  • Sound knowledge of the political processes that may impact on the business
  • Experience in dealing with the media with both reactive and proactive approach
  • Crisis management experience
  • Knowledge of the key players in the Queensland tourism industry in order to maximise partnership and development opportunities

About the role

The General Manager South East Queensland for SeaLink is responsible for the effective management and leadership of the SeaLink South East Queensland business units. With a strong commercial background and a solid focus on driving excellence in customer service, responsibility areas include tourism Sales and Marketing, Operations, Stakeholder Relationships, People Leadership, Fleet Maintenance and Management, Product and Business Development, Financial Management, Safety, Risk Management and WHS.


Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of SeaLink Travel Group, the General Manager will be a member of the Management Team.

This position is predominantly based in Cleveland, with travel to other locations as required.

The role is a permanent full time position.
