The Position

Based in a wonderful setting in Normanhurst, five minutes from the train station, we're looking for Catering Assistants to join our kitchen team and contribute to the health & well being of our students. This is a casual role of approximately 25 hours per week but also offers flexibility and NO weekend work!

Ideally you'll be an "all rounder" who can work both back and front of house, as part of our residential services and events team to assist with Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Retail café outlet and functions.

This is a challenging & varied role where you'll learn to be part of a fast-paced catering operation and be able to share your passion & love of not only food, but exceptional customer service. 

A day in the life of: 

• General food preparation including sandwich making and buffet prep
• Thorough cleaning of kitchen including dishes and floors
• Stock rotation and stock control
• Unpacking goods and checking deliveries
• Provision of excellent customer service to boarding students
• Any other ad hoc duties as required by our fantastic Chefs and Management
• Operating a commercial dishwasher to a high standard

A bit about you:

• Comparable experience in either schools and/or boarding houses preferred
• Experience in a fast paced hospitality environment
• Large scale food preparation including sandwiches and function catering
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Able to build rapport and a great relationship with students
• Ability to think on your feet & go the extra step
• Understanding of OHS & food hygiene
• Ability to take direction & work unsupervised
• Basic Knife handling would be a massive advantage
