About the business

Voted the best city hotel in Australia and New Zealand in Travel + Leisure Magazine for more than 6 years, The Langham, Melbourne is currently recruiting for a part-time Reservations Sales Agent to join Melbourne's premier luxury hotel on a fixed term contract through to February 2019 - with the possibility of an extension.

About the role

You will have the opportunity to work with the Reservations department which consists of approximately 7 colleagues.  This is an exciting opportunity for you to grow your hotel skill set in order to build a career with-in The Langham, shall you be determined and dedicated.

The successful candidate will be required to work approximately 2-3 shifts per week (inclusive of weekends), with the possibility to increase days/ hours during peak periods.

This position is an integral part of a high performing hotel team, and a key contributor to the hotel's ongoing success.

Previous experience in Front Office or Reservations is essential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting queries via telephone, responding via email, monitoring our on-line reservations, up-selling over the telephone & assisting loyalty member guests with queries.
  • Maximising sales opportunities within the hotel, ensuring all queries and bookings are carried out in an accurate and time effective manner
  • Ensuring a high level of product knowledge is maintained in order to explain services and facilities to clients as required
  • Processing all correspondence on a daily basis
  • Ensuring that all reservations are made within the guidelines of daily status

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a luxury hotel or similar environment 
  • Proficient in the use of Opera (reservations booking system)
  • Immaculate presentation and grooming standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Professional and positive attitude
  • Able to work over a seven day rotating roster – morning & afternoon shifts
