The Star Hotel Group is the largest independant hotel company in QLD.  We are currently undergoing a massive growth phase and need to get some talented Chefs on board to be ready for this.

HOTEL WEST END is currently seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. This is your opportunity to join this established hotel group that is on the move.

This busy hotel is right on the gateway to Boundary Street West End.  A hub of culinary eccentricity, vibrant entertainment and a vibe that is truly unique to the area.  We need a Sous Chef who likes to be creative, but also knows how to pump out the simple stuff that our patrons want.  We say simple stuff, but we aim to be the best at everything we do - so our simple stuff still requires talent

We are the home of the Best Steak Sandwich in Brisbane., but we also have some more complicated dishes for you to sink your teeth into.

As the ideal candidate for this roll you will possess the following attributes and more:

  • Leadership skills

  • Relevant formal qualifications

  • experience in a similar roll

  • Food safety supervisor certificate

  • Great communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

  • Ability to take direction and follow leadership

  • A good understanding of kitchen operations and procedures including HACCP

  • focus and organisation

  • The ability to implement and adhere to policy and procedures

  • Professional approach to the position

  • A passion for the industry and culinary flair

  • Own transport

  • Reliable and presentable

Reporting to the Head Chef and Venue Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of managing the kitchen including ordering, stock control, people management and staff development. You will be responsible for the operation of service, ensuring that all food is served to the standard set by the chef and company - and most importantly, you'll be responsible for creating a culture of excitement, excellence and innovation in your kitchen.
