About the business

Villaggio Sant' Antonio is a not-for-profit, multicultural, 83 bed aged care facility in Page ACT.  This "ageing in place" facility has 83 residents including a 20 bed dementia facility, six respite beds and a day care unit.  Villaggio is home to the residents living here, who are from many diverse cultures and social backgrounds.  These residents must be treated with respect and their privacy, comfort, health and wellbeing are primary considerations.

About the role

You will be required to motivate and develop staff to work within the Mission and Values of Villaggio while maintaining the high quality care currently provided.  A key responsibility will be to support the Care Manager and provide a level of leadership to registered nurses and care staff.

Key performance areas

  • In conjunction with the Care Manager, be responsible for clinical governance overseeing clinical care assessments and care planning
  • Support the Care Manager in all areas of care management across the facility
  • Complex clinical care as required
  • Conduct clinical audits
  • Conduct case conferencing and clinical care meetings
  • Mentor and supervise nurses and support staff
  • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders including medical practitioners, hospitals, pharmacists and other health care professionals in relation to more complex clinical matters
  • Ensure nursing practices comply with the Aged Care Act & Accreditation Standards
  • Assist with the management of ACFI across the facility
  • Comply with WHS legislation

Skills and experience

Essential Competencies, Experiences & Qualities:

  • Minimum  5 years  nurse registration with AHPRA
  • Clinical experience in aged care or similar environment.
  • Previous experience in providing clinical governance and supervision of staff, within accordance of evidence based best practice.
  • Demonstrated highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of Aged Care Accreditation Standards, the Aged Care Funding Instrument, continuous quality improvement, work-health & safety and risk management
  • The ability to work in harmony with Mission and Values of Villaggio Sant' Antonio
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing reports and accurate and timely completion of paperwork
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and work sensitively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Sound computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Current police check, or willingness to undergo one.
