The Role

As a Policy Officer for Centre of Population Health, you will provide advice, support and contribute to policies, strategies and activities in relation to the effective implementation of alcohol and other drugs policy and programs to support the achievement of NSW Health’s alcohol and other drugs objectives.
Focus areas will include substance use in Pregnancy and Parenting, Vulnerable Children and Young People, Opioid pharmacotherapy, young people dealing with addiction, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Guidelines, Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Clinical Practice Guidelines, and Nursing and Midwifery Clinical Guidelines: Identifying & Responding to Drug and Alcohol Issues. 
  

• Assisting in the preparation of high quality written advice in the form of reports, briefs, policy, discussion papers or circulars to inform or respond to requests
• Liaising with key staff in the Ministry, public health organisations and stakeholder representatives to communicate NSW Health's position, objectives, and priorities;
• Participating in qualitative and quantitative research to assist with addressing alcohol and other drugs policy issues and informing policy development.

  
Skills and Experience

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Nursing, Midwifery and/or other clinical qualifications 
• Good communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving capabilities - collaboration key 
• A solid understanding of performance outcomes and measures for key project goals, and contribute to monitoring, reporting and communication requirements 
• Government and clinical experience will be highly regarded

This is initially a contract position, with a view to extend.
