Employment Type: Permanent Full/Part Time Position Classification: Registered Midwife Remuneration: $30.81 - $43.26 Hours Per Week: up to 38 Requisition ID: REQ49150 Location: Gunnedah District Hospital Registered Midwife Dual Qualified Applicants – Welcome to Apply Tight Knit Hospital Team GP/Obstetrician led model of care Gunnedah Maternity Unit is seeking a confident and experienced midwife, comfortable working predominantly as a sole practitioner, who relishes the opportunity to provide quality care to women before, during and after birth. The successful candidate would understand the intricacies involved in modern maternity services and use exceptional management and collaborative skills to empower women during a vulnerable and special time in their lives. Your prior experience, assertiveness and ability to develop rapport with women and their families is imperative in this role. The newly refurbished maternity unit focuses on the comfort of mothers during labour with approximately 160 births each year in a GP Obstetrician led model of care for low risk births less than 37 weeks. Community involvement in the maternity unit is extremely high with a local community group, PRAMS (PaediatRic and Maternity Service), fundraising on an ongoing basis to modify and improve the facilities at the maternity unit. Located in the fertile Liverpool Plains Gunnedah devotes eighty percent of the area to the production of cotton, coal, beef, lamb, pork and various cereals. With a population of eight thousand people there are seven schools in total, is home to the largest agriculture field day in the southern hemisphere, and a strong coffee and dining culture. The beautiful surrounds inspired many of Dorothea MacKellar’s poems, with its colourful landscape, leafy streets and welcoming community. Enjoy connectivity across the East Coast being only forty five minutes from Tamworth Country Music Capital) who have a regional airport with regular connections to Sydney and Brisbane. Gunnedah is only a four and a half hour drive to many beaches on the east coast. Job share arrangements will be considered.
