Where you'll be working

At Murrumbidgee Local Health District we provide a range of public health services to the Riverina and Murray regions of New South Wales across a geographic area of approximately 125,631 square kilometres.  With around 241,000 residents living within our District we employ approximately 3,500 staff who work in our 31 facilities and support services.  Our facilities include a Rural Referral Hospital, Base and District Hospitals, Multi-Purpose Services and Community Health Facilities.

What you'll be doing

Within the policies and procedures of NSW Health Kids and Families and the Murrumbidgee Local Health District, to provide specialised therapeutic and counselling interventions appropriate to sexual assault counselling. Provision of service is for children, adults, families and groups (all ages and genders). This would include a demonstrated ability to implement effective therapies with individuals and groups.  

Selection Criteria

 

  • Bachelor Degree in Counselling, Social work or Psychology, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer from a recognised tertiary institution. Being female is considered a genuine occupational qualification as per section 31 of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act.1977.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the impacts and dynamics of sexual assault and successful experience in trauma informed counselling.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or experience in crisis intervention. This would include a demonstrated ability to effectively intervene, prioritise and manage crisis situations.
