About the Role
An opportunity exists for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Disability and Out of Home Care programs based in Cairns on a part time basis (flexible hours – 3 days per week).
This is a wonderful opening for an experienced Clinician with a passion for improving the lives of people with disability. Reporting to the State Clinical Services Manager based in Brisbane, you will work independently in the Cairns region with the support from a multi-disciplinary team.
Our core business in Cairns is supporting clients that have complex behaviours and dual diagnosis. The successful incumbent for this role will have experience working within the disability sector and sound knowledge of Restrictive Practice legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical knowledge and expertise to Life Without Barriers programs
- Provide assessments of clients functional, cognitive and learning abilities, health status and behavioural profile
- Develop and monitor intervention plans and strategies
- Work collaboratively with other allied health professionals
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy and current registration with AHPRA
- Demonstrated experience working with people with complex needs and dual diagnosis within the disability sector
- Demonstrated experience in assessing and planning interventions
- Sound knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme
- Sound knowledge of the Recovery Framework
- Sound knowledge of Restrictive Practice legislation
- Demonstrated experience in implementing person centred interventions
- Experience working in a culturally sensitive manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Understanding of a commitment to the principles of EEO, Safety, Cultural Diversity and Ethical Practice
- Current Driver License
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
