The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Clinical Psychologist vacancy to join the Community Forensic Mental Health Services in the North/ North West.
The Community Forensic Mental Health Service is a confidential state-wide service that assists people who have a mental health issue and/or intellectual disability who are:
- involved with the criminal justice system, or
- assessed as high risk of becoming involved with the criminal justice system as a result of their mental health and associated behaviour.
You will be working in a dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team. The service offers mental health assessment, treatment, liaison, support, education, advice and referral to other services.
The position will be located in the North and North West of Tasmania, and placement can be negotiated. Forensic Mental Health Services offers psychologists high levels of support and an unparalleled variety of opportunities across both Clinical and Forensic areas of practice within the community and Ashley Youth Detention Centre. Psychologists with the desire to attain their Clinical Registration are encouraged to apply, as training and professional development will be available to the successful candidate.
Vacancy: Permanent full-time day work, working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible. Part- time hours or flexible work arrangements will be considered.
The Role: You will be part of the Psychology Resource Team within Statewide Forensic Mental Health Services. Duties in accordance with primary health care principles, Agency policy and direction, legal requirements and professional competencies, undertake the delivery of quality patient care services, based on best practice and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
- Undertake psychological assessment and treatment for a range of adolescent and young adult behavioural, emotional, cognitive and social problems for clients involved in the justice system.
- Provide consultation to staff within youth justice in issues pertaining to the identification and intervention for their clients
- Assist and develop with formulation, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement, risk management, ethical research activities and other strategies consistent with best practice in a custodial and community environment.
- Research and maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends and practices concerning youth detention and the delivery of psychology and related services and associated programs.
Salary: $88,192 to $98,170 pro-rata per annum + 6.5% correctional health service allowance.
