An exciting opportunity currently exists for enthusiastic  Advanced Trainees in General Medicine to join our Department of General Medicine in 2019.

Details of Department

As part of the Central North West Physician Training Consortium, Austin Health and Northern Health have approximately 23 positions available across the 2 sites plus positions at Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute, Mercy Health, Cabrini Health and Warringal Private Hospiital.  A variety of 6 month rotations are available and rosters are based on College requirements and preferences received.

Details of position/position requirements:

• Undertake rotations as the MAU Registrar, in sub-specialty medicine e.g. Cardiology, Intensive Care or Private Medicine
• Expect to actively participate in the educational activities of candidates for the First Part of the FRACP.  Assist the Elizabeth Austin Registrar organising exams and teaching programs for the candidates and providing feedback to the candidates to assist their development
• Provide education to Junior Medical Staff
• You may be rostered to do additional or separate duties outside of General Medicine that would be compatible with General Medicine Training
• Complete a research or clinical project, these are to be discussed with the Director of Advanced Trainees in General Medicine Dr Cilla Haywood
  

To be successful in this role you must:

• Be involved in the supervision of the General Medicine Junior Medical Staff
• Assist the Elizabeth Austin Registrar (Senior Medical Registrar) in organisation of the Clinical Exam and educational activities for the written and clinical exam
• Work in collaboration with the Director and Heads of Units to maintain patient flow and quality of care for General Medicine patients
• Participate in hospital medical clinics as directed by the Director of General Medicine
• Provide replacement services to in-patient and out-patient medical clinics as gaps in service arise at the direction of the Director of General Medicine
• Undertake other duties as directed by the Director of General Medicine
